Ripoff Worked like a slave, Left my Family 4 big Money Dreams, Making $ for the company, Got hurt on the job now it becomes my Loss not the companies! Lawton, Wichita Falls, El Paso

Started the company in middle of 1999. Was doing great became a Certified Trainer and had individuals in my store on regular basis to train for NW Texas and SW Oklahoma. Base store in OK I traveled toother stores throughout the district to train, did PR for company and job fair recruitment. If there was a problem in the stores I was usually the one to help my district manager if it needed fixed I could do it. I was next in line for District Manager.

I have unloaded literally hundreds of trucks on freight day cases roll into the stock room off the truck and literally some of them can weigh 50lbs. Or more. This paticular week was in March and we are beginning to change seasons from winter to early spring and a storm was in over night, this day in paticular was really windy.

I was just about to finish Door-to-Floor and had to take some broken down card board boxes to the dumpster out back. I took them to the dumpster. Walked in the door, a gust of wind hit the door and the bungee cord busted it flug the heavy metal door into my back and knocked me to the floor. It hit me so hard I lay there rolling on the floor until my head cashier helped me up. She said damn it tore your shirt. I sat for a long time on a u-boat to get my composure becasue it not onlyb tore my shirt it hurt like crazy and it burned.

I have been in lots and lots of stores because of my position. I have yet to this day, seen a store with any kind of door prop but, a bungee cord, rock or some type of stick or pole to hold open the door when recieving freight. These doors are made of heavy steel. Women, not men unload the majority of these trucks. The driver has to unload a certain amount per hour and we are responsible to unload a specific amount per hour based on the cases we recieve and amount of workers we have present. Most of all payroll that is available for your store that wek. I have on many occasions unloaded a truck by myself ask any manager this is not uncommon, you have no help, no payroll you unload it. Try unloading it being the only one in the store you are alone.

I went to the office and called into Travelers the company Insurance carrier the incident. It was called in as an incident report. I then called this into my District Manager whhich is the policy at Family Dollar.

I was under a doctors care for another ailment and while I was in his office I began to cry and tell him what had happened. He Examined me and placed me on modified duty. My back was very bruised and sore, I was way to weepie and crying, I was in pain. He also gave me a prescription for pain pills along with muscle relaxers. It helped very little.

The duty was no lifting anything over 10lbs., no standing, running, jumping. I could not be on my feet for more than 15 min at a time. I conveyed this to my DM, he only said to follow my doctors orders. He never called this in to the home office and he never accomadated me in anyway shape or form. I continued to work and did not take anytime off. He never afforded me extra payroll and or extra help from another store. I was still working hurt or not. Again it was only turned into Travelers as an incident report and home offce was not informed.

My husband was transferred to Ft Bliss in El Paso so I would periodcally go to El Paso and visit at least until my son graduated from high school and started college in Oklahoma. I had interviewed with both DM's in El Paso and my then DM had highly recommened me to them. They both liked me and I tranferred to El Paso with Family Dollar, INC.

I started work in El Paso and was really happy no complaints at all. I was a floater or trouble shooter I worked in a small town called Fabens, San Elizario, and in a store on the east side on Montana. I was then placed in my own store or base store. My new DM was impressed, I had cleaned and modified Faben's, and San Elazario and made moderate changes in the Montana store but I implemented Policy like a company woman. I was proud of who I was, what I had become and most all, where I was going within Family Dollar.

My new assignment the worst I have been in. It was stacked with messes of pack ups, freight, and looked like years of just the attitude I tried to stay away from. You know leave it there who cares somebody else can pick it up or better yet fix it. My work was cut out for me big-time. I knew it would take time. My DM had told the Regional Manager about me so the motivation for me to do my job 110% was on. The regional Manager came to El Paso.

He met me liked me and wanted to let work in the store for a while clean it up, bring up sales and of coarse have a great inventory. Then come back and talk to me again.

I took some of my leave to get my house organized at home. Can you imagine the last day of my freaking leave the asst mang., calls me and is sick no-one else can mind the store (I am the manager after all) so I had to go in and close.

I start back in the store and we get a truck I unload it ok and we have the fright up and stocked. I notice that while I was on leave 10 large black totes were stacked against the wall. I called my asst. At home and asked, what was in the totes she told me they were all full of winter clothes. So I make it to the stockroom and I put up the first stack and started on the second stack I pulled the first one off and my fingers got caught under the lip and it was to heavy for me it took me to the floor. It was full of not clothes but health and beauty aids, things like shampoo, conditioner, hair spray, mousse and hair gel. It weighed over 50lbs I know, you try to hold 50 plus pounds over your head.

I layed on the floor for a while and then got up went up front to my office and called Travelers, called my DM, then E-mailed him I waited for a call back and never got one that day. I went to the doctor she places me on modified duty I then called my DM again (he is in NM he cannot recieve calls so you have to leave a voice message) I then E-mailed him. My DM shows up at the end of the week and he calls it in to the home office I get a memo from home office confirming it has been called in. Still I get no help, so my doctor takes me off work completely.

To this day I have not had help of any kind from Family Dollar, they sent me a certified letter saying they recieved my leter of seperation from the company. I never wrote a letter, I immediately e-mailed my DM with attachments to the the regional manager along with human resources. I got no response. Until 1 1/2 weeks later, home office said were sorry but you no longer work for the company. I have not yet heard from the DM or Regional Manager I mean not a small peep!

While talking to the home office I brought up and I discussed I had paid from my own pocket my insurance which included dental, major medical, short term-long term, home office states you may keep your insurance but it roll over to cobra and it will cost you a whopping $269.00. Now, I have been unemployed since October your not paying me can you get money out a turnip?

When I filed for my short term and long term I have been denied now because I no longer work for Family Dollar, what about all my premiums I paid up until I was released from Family Dollar, INC.? To bad so sad and shame on me? I was asked to cash in my employment stock purchase plan because I no longer worked for the company along with my 401k or have to let it roll over and pay a extra fee of 25%. What the heck is going on with Family Dollar?

I have been denied my Workers Compensation based on it was pre-exsisting... Because I still work for Family Dollar and I transferred from OK to TX with Family Dollar and it is still Travelers Ins. What is wrong with this picture?

I was also under scrutiny about sexual harrassment at the base store. A employee said I sexually harrassed them. While in the interview the Loss Prevention interviewer asked me straight out..."are you gay?" and "what is your sexual preference do you prefer weomen over men"?"We have every right to believe you are a lesbian"! I was crushed I mean it... This was the straw that broke the camels back. It proved to be a falsity and settled as not true. My DM said just move on, you came from I guess a small town and don't understand your friendliness people are offended by it.

I called Loss Prevention the next day myself and wanted to turn him in I was more than offended I was accused, judged and hanged. The sexual Harrassment office at Family Dollar said I could not because Loss Prevention was an interviewer. I told him as well as loss prevention I am not a homosexual and I am certainly not a lesbian.

I called my previous district Loss Prevention Represenative he was happy to hear from me and said that he had talked to the interviewer, told him about my character as a manager and said your barking up the wrong tree, she is probally doing a great job and someone is out to get her. I wonder... Company Woman.

My short-term, long-term insurance is in appeals now and who knows how long it drag on. My workers Compensation is going to a contested hearing the last of the month and Family Dollar, INC. Continues to pay me zero, zilch, nadah.

The other complaint is can a DM stand in front of his district of managers and call them all a bunch of Stupid F*s? Cuss them badger them threaten them and say tell you won't work in this town again? It happened. Say we all have our heads up our A*. Your all a bunch of F*ing liars? You can't have me fired and you won't turn me in? Even call us a bunch of F*ing PUS*es? It was and is being said send someone in a meeting and have a hidden camera you'll hear it with your own ears. Y not ask me.

Someone needs to anytime 5 Family Dollar, INC. And see if they get a perfect score of 10?
