This incident happened to my 80 year old mother (Phyllis Black, phone # (305) 638-5315) I handle her finances; she lives in Miami, FL and I live in Lithonia, GA. While reviewing her checking account via the internet, I noticed a bank generated check dated 5/9 in the amount of $447.34 paid to the order of YR Benefits. I phoned my mom and asked her about it and she did not recall the incident. On 5/21, I called the phone number on the check and was told that they are a third party company that handles the account. This third party company is located in Champlain, NY they asked for my mom's name and phone number and was able to pull up the acount. I was told by the company that they have a recording of my mom accepting membership to I Been Med which is a discount pharmacy and doctor's visit plan. I told them I wanted a refund and that I was going to report them to the BBB. They gave me the business' info and said that I would get a refund in 21 days (around June 11th). I've had problems in the past with my mom giving her bank's information over the phone. I have to keep reminding her not to do that because once they have you in their system, they will have other businesses calling her.
