A text was sent and sender was unfamiliar to me so did not open and just deleted. It immediately charged my AT&T account. When my bill came and I noticed the unauthorized charge for a monthly subscription for Shaboom Media of $9.99, I called AT&T. They informed me that without replying "STOP" they are legally able to charge my account. First of all, I was afraid if I did open the text I would get some sort of virus. Second of all, normally you have to reply "Yes" or check some type of agreement for the charges to be charged. How this company is getting rich and being allowed to do this is beyond me!!! Someone is going to get very rich before they are shut down!!!
AT&T were kind enough to take the charge off but informed me that they can only take the charges off once. It I put a FREE Purchase Blocker on my account they can automatically take future unauthorized charges off my account. I was informed that legally AT&T can not block the charges but if I had this Purchase Blocker then as soon as the charges are put on they can remove them. Apparently, everytime I want to purchase anything with my phone, I will have to go on line and turn the Purchase Blocker off and after purchasing an item then go back and put the Blocker back on. This is a "PAIN" for no reason!!! How many people do not pay close enough attention to their bill and this company gets away with it???
