American Value Grocery
Consumer Report

I responded to a radio advertisement for $2000.00 in grocerys. When I call the number 800-303-1477 provided in the advertisement I spoke to a rep, Brandon. He askedme various questions regarding my grocery routine and purchasing habits, and stated he needed the information to make sure I qualified for the benefits program. I was put on hold and when he returned he stated I qualified. At that point he said it would be a one time setup fee of $19.95 that would be refunded to me with a rebate. He requested my address phone credit card number. Before providing any information I verified with this rep that my information would remain private, and I would not be getting mulitple calls from telemarketers or anyone else. He stated " of course not, you contacted us so why would we do that?" and continued with "we never sell or share your information". So I continued. I provided the information and was subsequently charged $19.95, $1.98, $1.98 for the benefits I would receive in the mail within 7 to 10 days. I then immediately began receiving calls from 866-379 several times a day. After 47 calls in five days I speak to this person. The call was to thank me for my enrolling in the program and to offer me a $50 gas rebate to show their appreciation for only a $1.98 in which they would charge the card ending in * (the last four numbers on my card I had provided for the grocery program). I asked him how he obtained this information, what company he was with, and a phone number or manager information. Also stated they absolutely could not charge that card for anything and I still had not received anything for the first charges. He hung up on me. Again two weeks later another $19.95, $1.98, $1.98 charges on my card. I called the same 800 I did to begin with and got an extremely rude and in patient female rep, who after some dancing around bushes finally got me a manager. Manger Jessie stated he would look into the other phone calls I had been getting as to his knowledge they were not offering any gas rebates and had no clue as to why someone would have my credit card information. He suggested I cancel my card. He said give him a couple days to get all the issues resolved (double charges, nothing received, and other calls) and he would get back to me. He provided me a direct number and extension to reach him and I provided him with mine. I waited for several days. I called the number he provided to me and it was a bogus number. It has been over 60 days and I have not received anything, have had to cancel my card which always leads to various other issues and inconveniences for me personally, as well as, with auto bill pay, and anything charged to the card that had not been processed. This has been a true headache and led to more then $100 in bank charges & $97 in fee's as well as late payments and now deliquent payments on bills. How can a company advertise on the radio and get away with this blatent fraud scamming the general public. I will be looking to recourse on the radio station as well. I recently heard another offer on the same station only this time it is for $1000 in grocery benefits and providing a completely different phone number.
