An attractive young blond girl came to my door saying it was "bug-a-neighbor" night and that her parents told her to get out there and meet some neighbors. She informed me she was selling magazine subscriptions to earn a trip to Florida with her award winning softball team at a local Christian school. She said the neighbors up the hill, who she named correctly, had just bought two subscriptions and that is what most people are doing. She also said she and her family lived down the street and had moved from Texas. She was slick! I didn't suspect anything until she complimented me on my eyes. At that point I thought this is strange. Too many compliments.By then she was already headed down the hill to my neighbors. I called the bank but they informed me it would be $38 dollars to stop payment and they couldn't guarantee the check wouldn't be cashed prior to the hold being enforced.
Tell your neighbors and friends about this scam, these kids are amazing. Too bad they can't put that talent to good use.
