Reference: Complaint against UNITY VAN LINES USDOT 1201305 455 Barell Avenue Carlstadt, NJ 07072 (201-636-6330)
To whom it may concern:
I, Tanya * received a quote for $6,455 for my shipment being picked up in the Pacific Palisades, CA and dropped off in London, ON, Canada. I have paid already up-front, $965 to book the moving date and another $2700 when they arrived at the door and an additional $3500 a week ago and they are still holding the items. Besides that they are going way above their initial quote they are refusing to ship them to me. All items are apparently being held at their warehouse in Carlstadt, New Jersey.
They picked up my items on the 01/27 and still as of today they are refusing to deliver the items. Total of $7,165 and they want additional. On top of that they want another $3100 when the shipment arrives in Toronto, Canada which was never agreed on either. They were supposed to deliver it to my residence as requested.
The individuals of the above named company I dealt with are the following:
Alan Halikias, he provided me with a quote and took the truck reservation payment of $965. After that I was never able again to reach him.
Lissette Moron contacted us 3 days after they received the 1st payment to make arrangements for the pickup. The email she uses is the following: [email protected]
After I arrived in Canada Mrs. Moron sent us an additional invoice quoting the volume of my items doubled which is in-correct they had all the items from the beginning on when they quoted. She than emailed a list and documents signed by me however they added numbers onto that list after I signed it and I have proof of that as well wince I made copies of all items I signed within minutes of signing.
After about 15 emails back and forth I received a call from a Mrs. Leah Davis, [email protected] apparently Mrs. Morons supervisor and Nanda Balsara, [email protected] which identified herself as the accountant.
We found the company name Unity Van Lines Inc. Is operating in Canada under which is the following:

Unity Van Lines Inc. Has increased the cost to $13,000 and are refusing to deliver. I have retained a lawyer they totally ignore him as well just keep stalling and stalling. Another major issue that has come from it they are now requesting the original ownership for my motorcycle which is Canadian registered and plated. United States and Canadian Customs have advised me that they DO NOT need the original only a copy which I provided on the 25th of January already.
Canadian Police has issued a report and we have pressed charges for, Blackmail, Extortion, Document forgery and Grand Theft Automobile.
We have numerous documents they forged after I signed them I made sure to make copies of all papers I signed since they never provided copies. Besides that already which is severe enough they have used other shipping companied to move the items around without my prior approval and they clearly stated when I hired them that Unity Van Lines is the only company handling my property.
I have all my life possessions in that shipment and have nothing at all. Since I relocated to Canada for work I had to purchase new items for over $20,000. The stress they are causing my spouse and I is affecting my work and health never mind my financial situation. The Better Business Bureau of NJ cannot reach them either and they have 32 complaints against them already. They have advised us to contact you. At this point our lawyer also advised to commence legal actions against Unity Van Lines.
Our attorney contacted Unity Van Lines and they basically said we want more money or your clients will never receive their items. I paid already over more than originally quoted. We have also contacted and made aware of the situation the following offices listed below. I have all communications as well and have documented every communication we had on the telephone, email and fax with the exact time lines.
