I was offered $2,500 to act as a "Secret Shopper" wherein I was sent a check to deposit into my account for the services of buying items and reporting back to them any unpleasant customer service issue. To purchase items & then return them. To ask for assistance from staff as a difficult customer to get their reactions and report how they resolve issues. To check cleanliness & courteousy of staff taking names & reporting back to them.
I took the check to my bank and they alerted me of the possibility of such a scam. I torn it up and felt like a fool. I felt priviledged to be able to participate in this venture, assisting a major store chain with their customer services & getting paid to do so. Should have known it was to good to be true.
I got 1st letter 1st part of 2011. Then they had to run a check on me & get back to me. After I qualified, they told me to expect correspondence regarding the program. Then before the Christmas holidays I rec'd a check of $2,500 that had no return address of which the bank suggested I not deposit. Had not heard from them since.
Now I get a email that I won a $1000 Walmart gift card. Shucks... I sure wish it was true. I sure could have used it.
