Texas Auto Direct Caution in purchasing After-Market Warranty with TDA

Purchased a vehicle of Texas Direct Auto but completely unsatisfied with the experience of my vehicle purchase from this dealer. I am from outside the Lonestar state of Texas and had been searching and researching for the vehicle I was interested in purchasing for some time. Found a vehicle that was offered through this dealer's website, description of vehicle was identified to be in immaculate condition with the pictures seeming to reflect this description. Contacted dealer, who as any business in sales environment were very interested in making a sale, identified that they would go above and beyond to make me the customer experience a pleasant sales experience. They identified that the vehicle i'm looking at is a hot seller and that unless i put down a deposit of $500.00 that they have no guarantees to hold the vehicle. They further exclaimed that if for some reason i was not satisfied with the vehicle i was interested in they could transfer the deposit to the sale of any other vehicle on their lot, which i was okay with as i found a few other vehicles on their site that i was interested in as well. However this was my mistake, from never having experience with them before and lack of research of this dealer and complaints against them i did learn the hard way that i shall never put a deposit down in the future as if i didn't purchase a vehicle i would lose the deposit.

Again from looking at the pictures and description along with the assurance from the sales man i thought that I was safe. Anyways traveled a day to get to the dealer and got there and was treated like a number, salesman met me and gave me the run around that car was being serviced and cleaned up for my arrival. Sat for about an hour and a half while he was assisting other people with vehicle interests while he was supposed to be helping me. Finally he came around and told me the vehicle was ready for a test drive, went outside where the car seemed to have been parked and not moved. Outside look great, but entered inside the vehicle and found that the car had not been detailed as the salesman identified and found the inside of the vehicle was not to my liking as it had more wear then what was identified to me. Told the salesman that i was no longer interested in the purchase of this vehicle assuming that he would help me look at other vehicles, eh wrong, he identifies to me that if i am no longer interested in the vehicle that is fine but i was not going to get my deposit back, then i felt the hook. He got his part of my deposit and was no longer interested in a sale as he had too many other people there he was working with. I had to go back to a computer an query other vehicles of my interests on my own to see if there were any other vehicles that matched my criteria. Found a couple more and approached the salesman about my other interests at which point i must say i was very frustrated because i expected more for how much i was about to commit myself for. Needless to say, i ended up purchasing another vehicle then i was originally interested in but that too was okay, but again since i had to do everything on my own for finding another vehicle was not happy by all means.

Anyways made all the agreements for my purchase and was transferred to a finance officer. He started putting my paperwork together and then brought up after market warranties as my vehicle was a used vehicle and was soon approaching the end of its factory warranty. I decided as the vehicle i was purchasing was a nice vehicle with a lot of new gadgets that for me it was worth the investment. He had me sign all the paperwork but after pushing the warranty marketing on me, he never had me sign any official paperwork for it which i missed. He did give me a pamphlet for the warranty and a description of what all was covered by it. Anyways after a long drive home and again not thinking twice, something told me to go research complaints about this dealer. I started researching and found they had quite a bit of complaints on sales but what caught my attention was the warranty sales issues they had. I understand when purchasing a used vehicle i assume some risk so with that the vehicle was not an issue at this point. I read one complaint where a women paid for a warranty and assumed she was covered, but when she began having issues no one would recognize her warranty as she was not covered as she thought. This made me double check my paperwork which again i thought i had all the paperwork but i was incorrect. I had the pamphlet for the coverage but no signed contract. Contacted the finance officer that Monday as i made the purchase over the weekend and asked him to provide me the paperwork for the warranty contract. He identified that everything was legitimate and that he was going to fedex one to me in the afternoon. All this time the finance officer assures me that everything has been submitted to the warranty company and i am covered as of my contact.

Waited patiently till the end of the week and after not receiving anything contacted him again and identified my concerns from my research and requested a copy be sent to me immediately. He again reassures me that nothing is out of the ordinary and i am covered, what he didn't realize was that i had contacted the warranty company and they identified they could not find any warranty on my vehicle or my name. Anyhow, He then at this second request/demand sends me an email of a contract, keep in mind this is now a week later, i receive a copy of paperwork filled out with the date that is a week later of my vehicle purchase. I realized at this time that there were some concerns and issues, i identified that i wanted to cancel my warranty and have all funds returned, he apologized and identified that there was a mixup and he had originally forgotten to provide the paperwork for me to sign; however, at no time did he mention this to me but led me to believe that everything was okay and i was covered. They did in fact refund the funds back as i caught it before enough time had passed to where i could not recoup that money, again the woman i discussed earlier was not so lucky, she was told that she has to purchase another warranty to be covered. My intent for this complaint is to ensure any tax paying person who pays for something he/she believes they are rightfully getting is entitled his/her peace of mind and not have to worry about double checking their actions with a supposedly reputable organization. My simple request is to take caution when making large purchases to ensure that you are not throwing away hard earned money.
