Protect Your Surface, DuraCoat Received call from high pressure rep that said we never fulfilled contract for floor paint

We purchased 24 gallons of DuraCoat paint from Protect Your Surface for our church gym floor back in January. We received a call from Industrial State Supply (rep was Bob Manning) just yesterday (March 12). He informed us that we never "fulfilled our contract of buying a total of 40 gallons of paint" and that the 48 month contract was up today... So we were told we had to make a decision. If we did not purchase the remaining gallons we contracted for we would have to pay $189 per gallon for the entire 40 gallons instead of the $99 per gallon we originally bought the paint for.

We were not interested and did not have a need for the rest of the paint. Just to be "a considerate Christian" he said he would "do us a favor." Since we did not have a need for the paint he would give us a credit to purchase anything in their catalog. He wanted to confirm that we placed an order with our credit card that they already had on file. They would charge our credit card for that remaining balance that we owed which would "keep the contract price" at $99 per gallon. We asked for a copy of the invoice.

He then became irritated and said he would send copies that clearly explained our contract right on the invoice that we made with Protect Your Surface. He then threatened that if we did not take advantage of the offer we would be turned into the state for collection at the $189 per gallon price for the entire 40 gallons. We asked him to fax a copy of the invoice with the contract. He said he could not because of regulations.in the process they tried charging our credit card multiple times. Thankfully our credit card company flagged it as possible fraud. After contacting our credit card company we have since changed our credit card number.

Four things marked this as potential scam for us: 1) A random call when we heard nothing from the company since our original purchase; 2) The supposed "48 month contract" that was ending the very day they called did not coincide with our original purchase of the paint of 50 months ago; 3) The high pressure of having to decide at that very moment; 4) There was no recollection of signing any contract (though he had us wondering since it had been so long). Do not fall for this scam!
