American Value Grocery
Consumer Report

My grandpa kept hearing advertisements on the radio about calling to see if you qualify for $2000 in free groceries, and since my husband has been unemployed for 9 months and we have a 3 year old and a 9 month old he thought that it was something I might qualify for. So I called and talked to whom I thought was an American Value employee, which I later found out was just a call center that takes calls for several different companies, after asking me some info she told me that I did qualify and that I would be sent out "vouchers" in the mail. I asked how I used them and she said that I just take them to any grocery store and could buy anything that has a bar code, which she said was ANYTHING but produce because it doesn't have a bar code and can't be tracked. I asked where the $2000 comes from and she told me that is was part of a stimulus plan (yea that should have been a clue that this was a scam) and the government wants to see how and what we spend money on. She then told me that it would be $19.95 to ship the "package", that I would receive in about 2 weeks, but that I would get a rebate from FreeShipping.com. She told me that once I got the rebate I could cancel my subscription, that withdraws $12.99 from your account every month after the first "free" 30 days, with FreeShipping.com. So like a sucker I gave her my credit card info. Two weeks came and went and no "package". At the three week mark I did receive a letter in the mail from FreeShipping.com about how to claim my rebate but one of the things that they asked for, in order to process my rebate, was an order number which I didn't have because I didn't have my "package" from American Value. I called American Value customer service and they did email me a number to enter on the FreeShipping Rebate website, but then it told me that once I canceled I was no longer eligible for my rebate. I cancelled anyway because my 30 "free" trial was almost over. I did receive my "package" in the mail today which consisted of a pamphlet that gave me a pin number to enter on a website and receive coupons for groceries. So like alot of other people I didn't get my "vouchers" just access to a website to print off coupons that i already get in the sunday paper.
