Please beware of the company called Cheers to the Cure and selling "I Am A Boobie" merchandise.
I was recently told about this company by a friend so I decided to check out their website, shown below. The website would lead you to believe that the organization is a non-profit charity but it provides very little information so I decided to buy something from the site to see if I got a message indicating how much of my purchase was being used for breast cancer. I received no such message and was not even informed when I might received my item.

Skeptical, I decided to email them to see when I would receive the product and whether or not they were a non-profit company like they appear to be. They did respond by email indicating that they were a for-profit business but seemed to dodge most my other questions including "how much goes to breast cancer?" The response I received was simply that a "portion" of each sale goes to men and women fighting breast cancer. I emailed them once again expressing my concerns of not answering the questions directly and I was quite appalled by their response shown here:
"Our donor recipients have asked that their privacy be honored, so while we are unable to publicly list their names and donations, we do maintain a record of all donations made on file."
Are you kidding me! This is the biggest red flag ever!!!
Someone gives you money assuming that it is at least partially being used for breast cancer and the only explanation you can give me is that you cannot give me an explanation?!?! This is a total cop out! I understand if SOME people do not want the be acknowledged for privacy reasons but I find it hard to believe that if they were really giving money to people fighting breast cancer than at least a handful of those individuals would not want to express their support and gratitude for such generosity. And even if I'm wrong in thinking that, then it least give me a ballpark number that indicates how much you have donated to this point but to flat out say that we can't say anything is just total BS!
I quickly asked for my money to be refunded and although I did receive the refund, I got no further explanation nor did I hear from them in any way again. I have since learned of several other complaints against the this group and was even told that they were being investigated by the Tennessee Attorney General's Office. However, I do not know if that is true or not it is just what I was told and it certainly doesn't surprise me.
I hope that the people behind this company read this and if so here is what I am asking you to do in order to show people that you are a legitimate company. Tell us how much money you have donated and what percentage of each purchase is donated. I will verify the amount you give, should you respond, so please don't even think about lying about this! This is all myself any many others out there who support people fight the terrible disease want to hear. Once you respond back and I verify the truth then I will be happy to issue another posting saying that I was wrong. Ball is in your court, do the right thing!
