Have a 'time-share' in mountains. Joined Vacation Exchange of America in 1998 and, after paying the fee of $60, exchanged my week in mountains for a week at beach. Starting in paid the fee and made the request for exchange and waited, and waited! Called and was told that there were "No units in my 3 preferred locations available". Was told that my 'un-full filled requests' would be banked and I could use up to 3 'banked vacations' in 1 year. Continued to pay the fee and make the requests through 3/1. Called Vacation Exchange of America today and was told that there was a 'time limit' of 18 months on a 'banked vacation' and after that time limit expired, those weeks were lost! NOTHING in paperwork about that! Called a rental agency in Myrtle Beach, SC that handled the last 'exchange' in 2004: they are still part of Vacation Exchange of America and said that they have 7-12 units available EVERY week and Vacation Exchange of America claims there's NO requests for exchanges! Basically, Vacation Exchange of America is taking my money and making promises they don't plan to honor! Best advice: if you have a time-share and want to exchange it, contact a rental agency in the location you want to go to and ask them to refer you to an exchange company that they use and have success with! Vacation Exchange of America is a RIP OFF!
