Bought my wife a Magellan GPS unit in Nov. 2009.By May started getting the 'can not find' messages. Went to Magellan web-site on 12/27, entered all info on GPS unit and was informed "Map Update Available" and ordered it. SD card arrived 1st week of Jan and installed it. Unit now can not find locations that it did before! SD card says '2008' on the lable; sent emails and letters to Magellan, thinking I'd been sent the wrong SD card by accident. Finally got a reply: the 'Map Upgrade' I was sent is the LAST one available for the unit and it's from June 5 months before I bought the unit new! Magellan refuses to refund the money but has offered to take the old unit in 'on trade' for a newer version. (15% off!) Magellan SHOULD have informed me (and other buyers) that the 'current update' was from 2009 and was the same data (or less) than was on the unit from the factory! Magellan charges $89.79 for EACH upgrade released. I have a Garmin GPS and, for less than Magellan charges for 1 'upgrade', I have 'lifetime upgrades' for the life of my unit! Garmin has updated the maps twice so far this year!
AVOID Magellan GPS!
