This company contacted me in early December saying they had been assigned some accounts from a settlement from a company we had attempted to sell our timeshare with about a year ago. We had not lost any money with the company, but had never sold our timeshare either. She said they had been assigned this account for sale and had located a buyer. I, of course did not believe her. I did however do some research and found that the company was on the BBB site with no complaints. I checked the Attorney Generals and my timeshare company and no one had any complaints against them. They have a very legitimate looking website with all the contact info and links to reputable news sources with articles about them. After much research we fell for it.
They tell you that they do not take your credit card information to show you that you are protected and they are not after your personal info. They send you everything in writing in a very legitimate looking contract and ask you to sign the contract and send a check to cover the title fees. The contract shows the name of the buyers and the amount of money they have put as a down payment stating that if the buyer backs out the seller will get the down payment money.
She followed up with several phone calls telling us that the title search was underway and we would receive our packet to go over together to fill everything out. Then once the check cleared we suddenly cannot get hold of anyone with the company. The original number the first person gave me is out of service and the other person, Jessica the Finance Manager, never returns your calls. I have left messages for the past 10 days. The last time I spoke to her she said the titles were in and she woudl call me the following day. I have tried e-mailing to get other contact information and no one responds.
We have learned through this website that apparently this is what they have done to others as well. It makes sense now that the reason they take the check instead of the credit card is because Credit Card companies can charge back the money from them but once they cash your check there is nothing you can do to get your money back.
I am trying to get the word out to anyone I can to warn you about this company to hopefully save you from getting ripped off like my husband and I. We never thought we would be a victim of something like this. We are careful and really did a great deal of research. I'm not sure how, but this seems to have stayed under the radar until recently.in the past few weeks I have begun seeing reports on this company.
