Our 65" Mitsubishi TV that is only 4 & 1/2 years old started to get black & white dots on the screen. I googled the problem & found out it was a defective chip. There are blogs all over the internet pertaining to this problem with 1,000 people having the same problems & worse. There is also a facebook page dedicated to this. The blogs state that the problem will just keep getting worse & the spots will multiply which they are. I contacted Mitsubishi & they said they'd pay for the part but I'd have to pay for the labor which is $295.00. I told them that was unacceptable because it was a defect. They then said they'd pay for the part & 1/2 the labor & that was the best they could do. They admitted this is a defect & it is their problem but refuse to pay 100% of the repair bill... Because the TV is out of warranty. I told them if my car had a defective part & had a recall, Toyota wouldn't ask me to pay to have it repaired... Even if it was out of warranty! Mitsubishi guy said if I didn't agree to their terms they'd have to turn it over to an Advisor & have him call me back in 2 business days. That was on Thursday. The following Tuesday, still no call so I called them back. Guy on phone was yelling at me & hung up on me! I called back again & was told again that I'd have to wait for an Advisor or agree to their terms! TV is getting worse & Super Bowl is Sunday so don't know what else to do. Why should a consumer have to pay anything for a defective part! Especially when the company, Mitsubishi, is admitting that their is a defect & A LOT of TV's are involved!
