In January I purchased a Mitsubishi 73 inch DLP TV Model NO: WD-73735. I paid three-thousand dollars for this tv. On July 21 I was watching this tv when I heard a loud pop come from the tv. The screen went dark and a red "LAMP" indicator light came on and stayed on. While researching the cause of this malfunction I learned that hundreds of other people have experienced this same problem with their Mitsubishi tvs; this lamp/bulb blowout problem. Further Mitsubishi has known for years that their tvs were prone to this lamp/bulb blowout problem yet they have done nothing to fix or solve this defect in their tvs. What's even worse is the fact that instead of acknowledging this problem for what it really is; a design defect this company is charging people who experience this problem with their tvs one-hundred dollars for a so-called "replacement" lamp/bulb assembly; which does not fix the problem at all because in a few months it also blows out. Still worse is the fact that when one calls a Mitsubishi representative concerning this and other problems one might be experiencing with their tvs the rep says that this is considered a "consumerable" problem; tantamount to a light bulb blowing out in one's home. Well I have never paid $100.00 bucks for a light bulb in my life and don't think that I should have to now; especially considering the amount of money I paid for this tv and the short amount of service I have gotten out of it. This company needs to either recall their defective tvs and really fix them or reimburse people who have bought their overpriced defective tvs their money back.
