So, I'm just looking over my credit card statements for the last 12 months (online, I might add), and found a charge from last August for $99.95 from MWI Simple Escapes - I had absolutely no idea who this company was or how they got my credit card info.
I contacted them and as soon as I told the rep that answered the phone that I wanted it cancelled, she put me on the phone with a manager who immediately said he was there to help and understands that I have a rare set of circumstances and 'because of that rarity, can accomodate {my} request.'
I asked him how he got my credit card number and he of course said that I'd agreed to some trial membership that had been offered to me. (yeah, right) he also said that the offer had been extended to me through my credit card company (i'll be calling them next to check on that.) the rep did mention that i had accepted this offer via phone... Well, i don't have a land line, and to this date haven't ever received a telemarketing call on my cell, hmmmm.
