Body By Todd
Try Harde

I purchased a 6-week certificate to ' Body By Todd ' from Social Living advertising 'Six-Week Better Body Quick Visible Results Program, Three-Day Detox Plan, and 12 Personal Training Sessions'. Skepically I wondered what catch came with 12-personal training sessions at such a low price. It's basically a fitness class consisting of appx. 18 people (in my experience) sharing 10 weight benches using the leg-press, dumbbell, free weights, medicine ball, etc. The class is led by an instructor (not led by the bodyman himself as was stated on the website).

My classes, to date, have never started on time since the instructor has always been busy preparing shakes at the snack bar for the previous class and the instructors never seem to be available for questions after class because they are, again, preparing shakes. A sign has recently been posted with class times stating that classes should start on time unless their is a member issue. I really don't consider their lack of time management a "member" issue. This studio is not for anyone needing a set schedule.

You can phone or email but the phones are not answered and emails are not usually promptly returned. The weekly weigh-ins mentioned are at your request and not recorded or prompted. The Three-Day Detox Plan is nothing more than a menu on a piece of paper - you can find this or similar for free on the internet. I recall it mentioned that you receive a shake after your first session which was a sample, thimble size quantity. My least favorite was the fitness evaluation. These are held in a large group (appx. 15) led by a very very fast talking instructor. My group was given only 1 or 2 minutes each for their personal fitness evaluation which left no time for questions. It felt like a cattle call and I was very disappointed with the evaluation. Finally. As much as I love children I do not believe they belong in the gym. It is not unusual to arrive for warm-up to have a child playing on one of only 4 pieces of warm-up equipment or have a small child/toddler in the weights area during class, which in my opinion is dangerous and distracts.

Even though I felt the advertisement was a little deceptive I actually really liked the classes and prefer a group session to one-on-one. The instructors have been very friendly and genuinely motivated. Don't expect a gym type setting since it is a small office type space with a small unisex locker room and no additional amenities. Groupon/Living Social price is well worth the cost but I would have to pass at the regular price.
