I received a text message containing trivia information with a notation at the bottom, "For help call 18668611606." I first clicked reply and asked to stop/unsubscribe. I kept receiving the text messages and thus I called the 866 number twice and was told that the service would be discontinued - but the texts kept coming. I then reviewed my T-Mobile bill and found a charge for $9.99 for a download. The charge was imposed by Nitto Legend; the T-Mobile representtive had no further information. I asked T-Mobile to refund the $9.99 and block the service, which they did. I then called the 866 number and inquired if the representative works for Mobile Media; he said yes, and that the subscription fee is $9.99. He said he would terminate the subscription if I gave him my phone number, and I said that was already being taken care of.
Apparently one becomes a "subscriber" when one replies to one of their text messages.
A complete scam. There may be a class action lawsuit here. Any takers?
