Our project manager insisted we go with Stefan Mayer from Scullery and Holz when we decided to remodel our kitchen. She said he was "so much more responsive than other kitchen suppliers." This was true until he took our deposit of $19,000. At that time he stopped returning calls and has delivered nothing. We finally were able to reach him and he promised to return the money. Weeks later we still have nothing to show for it and we have subsequently found out he has perpetrated the same scam on others. We have also discovered that Australia's Fair Trading Office does not permit suppliers to take more than a 5% deposit for a job over $20,000. Stefan insisted we pay him a 50% deposit. We have since spoken to 4 other people who have been trying to get their money back from Stefan for several months. His tactics are to delay, delay delay WHEN he can be reached on the phone, which is rarely. Two of his companies, both called Scullery and Holz have been forced into liquidation. He is operating out of a third company, Bespoke Intallations trading as Scullery and Holz. So far ASIC has done nothing to stop him despite having received numerous complaints. Before doing any business with him, we caution people to do their due diligence. This is a dishonest con man.
