I was contacted and told that i had been approved for a loan of £1500.00 that it would not cost me a penny. Then they asked for £80.00 to be paid into an account either by cash or internet banking transfer. The account was in the name of a Catrinia Collet
that this money would be returned with my advance.
Then I got an email from a Chris Williams at Direct Gov - Money Laundering asking me to pay admin costs for the money laundering of £200.00. I refused and then spoke to a Christina and a male Michael saying he was the director who then agreed that he would wave half of the laundering cost and so I would just have to pay £100. I still refused. He made all sorts of promises and reassurances guarantees etc. I had already had thier address and registered company number which I had checked and the address did come back correct. The next day I received a call again with guarantees and assurances so i took the gamble and paid £106.00 again into this account in cash. Christina promised to ring me at 6pm but did not, she assured me that the funds would be with me by 7am the next morning. They were not. Each time (over 20 calls a day) I tried to call the number would ring once then go to the engaged tone. Then on the 28th December i recieved more phone calls from Christina and Michael telling me to get the funds transferred i needed to pay £170.00 for a PPI. I refused to pay this and told them they had breached our contract and to return the money paid or pay the advance. I quoted from the FSA that PPI is optional and as i have a policy in place already I do not need another and certainly not for this loan amount.
I have tried several times to call them back and the phone rings then cuts to an engaged tone. So I asked my partner to call them from a different number and surprise they answered.
I have emailed Direct. Gov in an attempt to contact and verify the Chris Williams dealt with Money Laudnering. Todate I have not had a reply.
