Suggestion

Today my husband and I visited

Target in Lansing, NY to purchase a portable DVD for a trip with our three year old grandson. Although I utilize computers, my technology skills are limited. My husband's are non-existent.
We located what we wished to look at but needed further assistance. The Manager of Electronics (Matt) spoke with us for a few minutes and idenitified a carrying case that could attach to the car head rest. This was not what we had seen utilized by another family member so we proceeded to inquire. Matt was called away and he left us with a very nice young man who helped us locate what appeared to be the product with what we required. However, the model on display was not the DVD and the package was sealed. The young man received permission to open the box but to NOT open anything further. The components were sealed in clear wrap and although we could see through I could not determine where a DVD inserted. The young man wasn't positive either. The instructions in the box were not helpful at all. We asked if the package could be opened further and were told (now the security guard has joined us) that unless we purchase it it could not be opened. We could bring it back if it was not what we wanted. We live 40 miles from this store and did not have the time nor desire to make another trip. I purchased the product and told Matt that I would purchase it BUT we would open it now and if it wasn't what we wanted, we would immediately return it. We opened the sealed product that appeared to be the DVD. (There are two monitors.) He located a button that popped open the door for the DVD to be placed. We were not being difficult we just wanted to be certain that the product we required did what it was supposed to do. (Sometimes they don't.)
Our suggestion is that the display model should be the DVD monitor versus the straight monitor; this would have made our shopping expedition much more enjoyable. I know that security is an issue and would think that a cable attached to the display wall would prevent shoplifting.
