Warranty no Good

Purchased a Sony Bravia KDL-46XBR5 46 inch LED TV in about April / May from ButterFly Photo. At the same time the saleman suggested a 5 YR extended warranty from RepairTech of which I paid almost $400 for. Both purchased from ButterFly Photo. I recently experienced an issue with my TV and tried calling RepairTech. They are out of business. Called ButterFly Photo to see who took over the warranty service. Turns out NO ONE did! ButterFly Photo says they are not the same ButterFly Photo that sold me the warranty (though they have the same name, phone & web address).

Going to dig up my original credit card receipt and contact Visa to see if they will help. Was wondering if others had issues with both RepairTech and/or ButtherFly Photo regarding extended warranty issues? Was anyone abe to get this resolved? I would think there should have been a business bond or reserves set up in order to do business that would protect consumers from their obligation on the warranty service? I called the California (where I live) Dep of Insurance. They asked if the word 'insurance" is listed anywhere on the documentation. It was not. I learned in the future if (ever) you buy an extended warranty service plan, make sure it lst a ligitimate insurer that backs it up. Check with your State's Insurance Dep BEFORE you buy it. Clark Howard (on CNN) says there are not worth buying anyhow. I agree! Wish I had saved that money I spent and banked it for future repairs or another TV! Anyone have any thoughts on RepairTech or ButtherFly Photo / Video? Thanks - Ro
