After a recommendation from Grand Miramar in Puerto Vallarta that I contact Holiday Vacation Management (HVM) about sale of two other timeshares, I contacted HVM and spoke to Luke Sanchez who provided me signed contracts dated 8/15 to purchase my timeshare in Anaheim, CA and one in Puerto Vallarta.
Over a period of about two months I was asked to pay a VAT tax, title search, transfer of ownership, and various attorney fees and transfer fees via wire to Luis Sanchez Sifri in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. After paying each fee and a wait of several days, there was always a new fee to pay for some reason. These fees were paid beginning on 8/17 and ran to 10/21. I was promised in writing that I would be paid back for all fees paid, but I'm told that the intended buyer has backed out and I must pay a new $739 cancellation fee to be reimbursed any monies I've paid out. Because I have no assurance that this would result in any payment to me, I have not paid the fee. Now we're at a standstill. I just wish I'd done more research on this before paying out my first dollar to this firm.
The initial escrow account for the VAT payment also involved a communication with James Morrison of JRM Escrow Financial LLC in AZ. When I spoke to him about initial concerns related to paying fees, he assured me that this firm was OK. Maybe they work together.
