We purchased a home built by Master Craft Builders in December and moved in on Jan. Since we moved in we have had numerous issues with our siding and windows. We have had water leaks on our south and east elevations and at our fireplace chimney. We have continuous drywall damage in our Master bath (East Elevation) at the ceiling and walls which stops us from finishing up the ceilings and the walls in our Master Bath. We also have had a leak over our covered porch (south elevation) that when it rains water trickles down the decorative stone. We have all windows iceing up on the interior side of the window in our home, the patio door icing up and air penetrating thru it and the window frame miter joints opening up allowing water to penetrate thru them and traveling thru the walls. We have had siding issues prior to moving in such as the installation of the siding was incorrect. Meaning they had used the wrong starter strip when installing the first starter coarse of siding, the window lineal installation was not done per manufacturers specifications and installed incorrectly, Weeps were not provided in the J moulding installed along roof edges per the manufacturers specifications, the outside siding corners buckled and warping occurred, the chimney cap did not overlap outside corners of of our siding, which allowed water to migrate thru and down the interior walls and damage the interior drywall along the verticle edges of our decorative stone on both sides of the fireplace. I have had Master Craft builders out at our home numerous times to address these issues and they have corrected a few but not all of them. They have not followed up with the window manufacturer or siding manufacturer to correct these issues. I keep getting told that the manufacturers will not stand by the product, the warranty had expired, or this is just the way the windows and patio door are.
I just had Master Craft Builders out recently on October 13 to look over the areas where we had the water leaks on the east and south elevations and they told me that they believe it is a window issue and there is nothing they can do because they do not use Crestline windows anymore. They can provide a temporary fix by caulking the interior miter joints of the window units and see if that works. I mentioned that this is only a temporary fix, short term solution and this is not the way this should be handled and they should call the manufacturers and have all windows replaced and installed correctly along with the siding issues. Master Craft told me to call crestline or Menards and see if i can get any where with them and get crestline to replace the windows and patio doors. Master Craft also told me that I should call the siding rep at Crane Board and see if I can get anything out of them so they can replace the items we are concerned about such as the starter strip, window lineals that are installed incorrectly or are chalking that is occurring on the siding. Etc etc.
