We purchased a Maytag Dependability Plus extended warranty on a Jenn Air slide in range. The warranty began after the first year's manufacturer's warranty ran out. The warranty states that if the same repair is requested 4 times within the time frame of the warranty, then the consumer is entitled to a replacement appliance.
We have just placed a claim for the second time on the oven control panel. We were told the part is not available for 60 days due to a National Backorder—they are trying to tell me this part is not available. This is completely untrue—I could order this part myself from at least three sources and have it shipped immediately. The "National Backorder" is a ploy to force the consumer into waiting for repair and thereby cause the warranty to wear out before they have a chance to make another claim.
I don't recommend Maytag or JennAir appliances and I don't recommend the Maytag Dependability Plus warranty, either.
