On March 9 we entered into a contract with American movers group to move us to Florida. We were told that a late model truck would be picking up our furniture and the quote included $100,00 worth of insurance. The truck arrived, it was a partially wrecked retired u-haul about 24'. After arguing about that we agreed to let them load our belongings. Once loaded and they were asking for money they told us that the insurance was $. 60 per pound. They left a large load of our things in Paris, Texas that had to be stored at a friends - 8:00 at nite. No place else open. We now have to go back and pick those items up. Our furniture was off-loaded and reloaded onto another rag-tag truck for the trip to Florida. Our dining room table was dropped, hutch dropped, floor lamps smashed, sewing cabinet crushed on one corner (told that pressed wood was not covered in insurance) bookcase smashed. Got here left truck running from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM in a retirement community with all old and sick people all around us. I feel that we should be reimbursed for having to pick up our things as well as the repair and repurchase of our smashed items.
