PAWS for Pets in Beaumont, Texas is an organization that adopts out animals every Saturday at Petco. I adopted an adorable chihuahua/miniature daschund mix in April.in August my dog got loose from my yard and I immediately contacted PAWS for help. The dog was micro-chipped, with my information on it, and I was told that PAWS volunteers would be on alert in my city. I never heard anything back after that, until I found out that they had found my dog and NEVER attempted to notify me.
The only way I found out was when I received a phone call on August 19 from a gentleman claiming to have found my dog and brought it to a local business. I went to talk to the woman who had my dog, and at first she acted dumbfounded as if she had no clue as to any dog being brought to the business. I then had the man who found my dog come and her story quickly changed. She confessed to having the dog, and became irate. She got very defensive as if to protect herself from what she had done. She was, in fact, a volunteer of PAWS who claimed to be the previous owner of my dog before she had given her to PAWS. She also claimed that I breached my contract with PAWS, (although no persons from PAWS ever actually called to inform me of any breach of contract) yet showing no proof of anything. She claimed that the dog was now legally hers and that she had the micro-chip information changed to hers. I later called the micro-chip hotline and found out that was not the case, and that my information is still on the chip. She claimed the dog had heartworms, although I was never shown any paperwork or proof of my so called "breach of contract" and then accused me of "not looking for the dog" as if to say I didn't care enough about my dog to actively pursue her whereabouts. That was also inaccurate, because both my husband and myself had put out fliers, contacted the city pound, animal shelters, city hall, the police department, and put an ad in the local paper to try and find my sweet puppy. Point being, my dog got loose, PAWS knew she was missing, and they selfishly kept the animal when she was brought to them, either out of their own corrupt attempt to seize the opportunity to "re-sale" the same dog over, OR, the woman really was the previous owner and just the ironic fact that some stranger brought this puppy back into her life somehow made her feel entitled to another person's animal, therefore stripping her of any decent or professional manners and instead choosing to commit theft.
PAWS for Pets, Beaumont, Tx is CORRUPT. They are scamming willing and loving individuals of their intentions of giving animals a loving home and instead resorting to "re-homing" these animals to make more money off of the same animal. I will do everything I possibly can to make sure the public knows what these people are doing with these animals!
