I have Comcast for my internet and local channels. Recently, I received a postcard from Comcast stating that I had to get an adaptor or that I had to put in a receiver in order to keep my channels as they were switching to all digital service. This was suppose to be at NO COST TO ME. Now I found out that if I install the box there will be a. 95 cent per month charge for every box I install. When talking to Comcast customer service I was told I have to do this in order to keep watching any channels regardless of paying for the service. A few years back when everything went digital Comcast sent out a letter saying that if you are a customer you don't have to worry because you won't lose any service. The receivers that they are sending out are old refurbished ones from 2008 and older. Is this legal and can they force me to pay for a receiver even though I am paying for service. I just have basic service and do not require movie channels.
