I am a former employee of united air comfort in martinez, ca. I was very excited at the oppertunity to find an hvac company that would train new people in the field, so i took the job that promised us at least $600 a week!
I went in for my first day of training, and was trained by a person who had been in the hvac company business now for 3 days! 3 days, and plus, he could barely speak english. We went to a pretty poor neighborhood in antioch in response to a broken heater call, the house had to be 10 degrees. The "training" lead tech had never even seen a double wall furnace before, but proceeded to take it apart. Of course, he had no idea what was wrong with it, so he convinced them that they needed a brand new unit, and that this one was a fire hazard... Maybe it was, but the only reason he sold them on a new one was that he had no clue how to fix a furnace! Suddenly, after the whole furnace was scattered across these people's house, he realized he had forgotten the papers to sell a furnace, so he left me, first day, to put all the peices back together.
Duct cleaning, another scam! This does nothing, do not be fooleed. The sanitizer is pretty much good smelling water.
Next day, i learned how to do the "spectacular" $19 tune up, a complete fraud... All we are doing is fiddleing around with the furnace, sure we read the numbers and frequencies, but this is just another scam for us to get into your house and charge you more money.
The next day, my third day of training, i was out on my own, set to do scams, and make the company money. My shirt said certified tech, even though i did not know a thing about furnaces, and was set for tune ups without any tools needed to really do any work.
This company is a fraud, they not only jip their customers, but also their techs., i was majorly screwed on my pay, and screamed at as if from the mother of a murdered child if i questioned anything. All in all, i lost money, ruined a truck, over-charged, and was taught to scam people. Needless to say, my employment time was short, and gave them the big f-u while headed out the door!
This company should be taken for all it's money, and set an example for all those other bastard companies that do this crap every day!
