I received a letter in the mail stating that I was the second prize winner in the second category of the USA Mega (under the international Sweepstakes and that I had won $450,000.00 in US dollars.
I was sent a check for $4100.00 to cover the taxes on the winnings. Lernks financial Services was assigned to inform the winners and pay off their winnings. I was instructed to call my claims agent, Mr. Oscar williams prior to doing anything with the check.
I never entered a sweepstakes in Canada and felt that receiving a check in the mail for this large sum was too good to be true. The name of a company on the check is a legitimate company asis the name of the bank on the check but the whole thing is bogus.
I am not sure what the company is trying to do. Maybe obtain my bank account number if I were to deposit the check. Perhaps to get other pertinent information about me like a social security number or other valuable info. I'm not sure. I do know I didn't win the money and that's a sad thing!
