I deposited the check into a savings acc't and waited several days for it to clear. It came back "Acc't Closed". I called Don Wakefield and he said you were supposed to call me first. I told him that didn't change anything when the Acc't was closed. He said he would call the Accountant. I called back a couple hours later and he said he has worked it out that if I pay the $3600.00 he would get me the entire $170,000 in one check. I told him I didn't have $3600.00. He asked me how much I could come up with. I told him $1000-$1100. He said he would help me because it wasn't my fault they had changed accounts. The most he could do was $2500.00. So Friday afternoon (6/17) I sent Janice Saint $1200.00 by Western Union. I called him afterwards and gave him the MTCN#. He also wanted to know if they charged me for the Western Union & how much. He said he would pay the rest if I could get him back his money by Monday. He would get me my $170,000 by Saturday morning around 10:00AM by Special Currier. At 9:00AM Saturday morning he called me to say that his wife had spent $1400.00 that he didn't know about and he was only able to send $1100.00. I told him I didn't know what to do because I didn't have that kind of money. He wanted me to borrow it from a friend or bank and get it to him Monday AM and he would get me my winnings by Tuesday so he could get his money back. I told him if this was real I would give him a substantial amount for helping me out. He assured me it was real and that he had helped out another lady that gave him $10,000 when she got her winnings. I asked for her name and contact number, but he wouldn't give it to me.
Monday at 9:00AM he tried calling me twice but didn't leave a message. I called him back, still very skeptical, and asked him to give me proof that he sent in the $1100.00 but he kept saying you have to trust me, this is real, why would I have put up $1100.00 of my own money for you when you said you would give me a substantial amount later if it was real? He wouldn't give me any proof. I went on the internet and found other letters, with the exact same winning #'s and store receipt serial #'s. Their amounts were different but the exact same letter, I knew then I had been scammed.
