On April 5, a young girl, alledgedly named Sierra Brown, came to my door in Tulsa, OK, and said that she was working on her public speaking for a school assignment. She claimed to be selling magazine subscriptions, a portion of the money would go to a charity and was tax-deductible, and she would earn credits towards her college funding.
I picked two subscriptions for my daughter and paid by check. I was notified that I had three days to cancel the order-and now I really doubt that was even legitimate. I did not cancel, and the check was cashed 15 days later. There is not a contact phone number on the receipt I was given.
I have filed a conplaint with the Better Business Bureau and would urge anyone else who has been scammed to do the same at www.bbb.org.
