I dropped my Bichon puppy off at the groomers with instructions to keep his bichon cut but just a little shorter and not to express his anal glands. When I picked him up three hours later he was shaved to practically hairless and whimpering. My expensive pure breed looks like a rat. The experience was traumatic for the puppy. He did not eat for twenty four hours and was very whiney.
I called the groomer and asked if they had expressed his glands. She said that she did and that he was matted. I brush him every day and his last grooming was one month prior at that same facility. There is not any way that his fur could have been matted. Teresa (the groomer) said that he had hot spots on his skin. She was very quick to talk and did not give me time to finish talking.
After five days our puppy was still not acting normal. I took him to the vet to make sure that he was not bruised or who knows what may have happened. He was due for his six month check anyway. His glands were than properly expressed. We will not take our dog there again. They did not listen to our instructions. Also the check that I made out to the business was crossed off and replaced by the groomers name. She initialed it with my initials.
