Today I recieved my credit card statement, to my suprise a charge from "Simple Escapes" for $119.95. I called credit card company immeadiately to dispute as I have no knowledge of this company and since the day of the charge suprisingly enough I was traveling out of the state with this card securely at home, not in my wallet.
When I googled Simple Escapes, I saw numerous reports on the "rip offs" by them. I called the number reported on my statement and spoke to a young lady who could not "locate" my account. Then after asking me "have you moved in last 2-3 years, what was your previous zip code?" she then passed call on to "supervisor Damion" He asked if I had a maiden name, at which point he miraculously pulled up my account under an address from no joke, 5 years ago. When I demanded he produce the evidence that I signed up or confirmation of my authrization for this so called membership, he then said it was in 1999 and was offered to me through my credit card company.
Funny, they have no records from 5 years ago. Said it will be credited back to my account. Called the credit card company back, they verified Simple Escapes is one of their vendors, but not until 2002 and at that the service they use them for is only for 24 dollars never 119.95. We will see if I get my money back! I made credit card company aware that Simple Escapes was blaming it on them.
