I am writing to register a complaint about a local retail business, Corporaciones Unidas located at 108-24 Roosevelt Ave, Corona NY 11368, Tel: (718) 639-6262.in November I sent many packages to Ecuador, somehow the Agency made a mistake with the packages, and I was contacted on April 02 by the owner to let me know about a problem. He explained that my package was given to someone else who returned the package in their office in Ecuador and that the customer was missing her own package. I was very surprised that they contacted me about it after such a long time (5 months). They asked me if by any chance I had the other person package, so I explained that we did not get the other customer’s package because my mother knows what I send to her every time and the items that they were looking for were never received by my family. I insisted by phone and in person that if they had one of my packages I needed to have a list of the items, so I could make sure that they belonged to me.
They still haven’t told me exactly what is inside that package. They are holding it in their offices in Ecuador; every time I inquire about it they tell me something different. I was told by the owner on April 16 that they won’t return the package to me because they think that I received the other package and that the other customer who is claiming her lost package wants them to pay her $500. The owner told me that they are not going to lose the money and since I cannot prove to them that it is my package, they won’t return it to me. He insisted that I needed to return the missing package I was very disrespected by the owner of the agency. I told them that I could not be responsible for their mistakes that they were supposed to investigate what had happened and put signs in the agency about the items and dates of the package in dispute, so anybody could be aware that they were holding that package and claim for it, and if it was mine I wanted it to be returned to me. They have refused disclosure of the content of it or announce to the public that they have that package.
That Agency has plenty of violations. First of all when it comes to the packages their scales, are not calibrated. They always show different weights. They have a policy that you could send from 4 to 8 pounds in one package, but if the package has much less weight, they still charge you for the full amount. They charge separate for any item that they could make extra from like a body cream. They claim that you need to pay an extra $4 for each item even though it fits perfectly in its 4 or 8 pounds package and still goes in the same package, or they charge to some customers separately for sneakers charging them as a 4 pound package when the sneakers don’t weight more that a pound and a half, and to some other customers they just let them put the shoes or sneakers together with other items as long as they make the weight needed. Since I have been going to this place on a weekly basis I have seen all of this and more. I feel obligated to report all of this because even I have been disrespected by the owner on two different occasions, and I cannot tolerate and keep acknowledging it anymore and do nothing about it. As a U.S. A citizen it is my duty to make a difference and to stop anybody from doing business with this agency. I consider this an unacceptable business practice and want others in Queens, New York to be aware of such problems.
Sincerely, Andrea Jerves
