I rented a car from the Key West airport and drove to Melbourne, FL. The rental alone cost me $206.00 for 2 days. The rental office only had 2 cars available that day both of which were new Chevy Camaros at a rate of $70 a day. What i wanted was a cheap economy car just to get me home for the 2 days i had available before reporting back to my unit and returning to California. With the great selection of different price range models i selected the cheapest one available. Just today i received another charge of $155.00. After looking up the customer care number on the website and being put on hold for 10 minutes i was informed that this is not the correct number to call. I was then told the number to call and told that there wouldn't be anyone there at this time as it is not an effective customer care that will be there to help you 24/7. I then called the rental office in key west and they informed me the extra charges were from the tolls. It was never explained to me that i could buy a "Sun pass" to avoid all this trouble or that florida had just recently changed their toll booths to be automatic, as in there is no one there you can actually pay cash to. The rental agent never offered me this money and time saving deal. I feel this would have been valuable information for me to know. However, greed being greed the company probably will not reimburse me any of the money for "my mistake of not reading through 258,000 tiny words on the rental agreement that would have told me they charge $25 per toll!" $25 per toll?!?! This is an astronomical number that's about ten times the average toll fee. Do you really need to make this much profit off of these tolls. Because of this incident i will never use this company again and will never recommend it to anyone i know, and being affiliated with the military that happens to be a lot of people. So lets sum it up 206 155= $361 for 2 days of use in the only car that was available to rent and maybe $25 worth of tolls. I'm glad that in this struggling economy that the multi-million dollar companies still know how to rip off the struggling average Joe.in case you couldn't tell i'm very displeased with the service and extra fees that this company has given me.
