We canceled Direct TV service at the beginning of July because my husband hurt his back than lost his job. Before that we had a tech come out because we 2 of the 3 boxes we had would not work. I was told that because we were good customers for 4 years and had never had a service call that the fee would be waved. The next bill we recieved there was a service call charge on it. When I called about it they said they could not find any notation about that. Then toward the end of July we recieved a bill that had a cancellation charge of $327.20. I immediately called and was assured by the manager I spoke with that the charge was a mistake and would be credited so it would not come out of my account. Well when I checked my bank statement in Aug. They had taken the money out. I called Direct Tv again and spoke with another manager named Virginia who also assured me that the charge was not valid and said I would recieve a refund check in 6-8 weeks. On 9-22-09 I phoned again to check to see if the refund was issued yet and talked to a Raphael he said after reviewing the our account he saw that a reversal still hadn't been done and he assured me that within 3 days he would have it taken care of. Meanwhile I filed a dispute with out bank who in turn reversed the charges. Today I get a Past Due bill from Direct Tv so I called to find out why the reversal has not been taken care of and am told today that it is NOT going to get reversed that it is a valid charge! They said when they put the new box in it automatically renews your contract for 18 months! This was never disclosed to us when the tech was here and my husband did not sign anything comitting to the new service contract! So everything the other customer service reps and managers told me was a LIE!!! I am sending a letter of dispute to their main office and will dispute it if this is turned in on our credit! Don't use Direct TV!!! They lie to you and their customer service is rude!!!
