I am a resident at University East in Deland, Florida. I have had problems withJan Powers (Administrator) and Nikki Little (DON) about getting a hold of thedoctor about getting a leave of absence to go to Biketoberfest for a day out. Ihad talked to PA Speicher myself as the DON told me to do and he said he hadno problem with him writing the order saying i could go out as long as Ireturned to the facility. I went in the DON office and told her the PA said heis covering for Dr. Luna since she has been out because of surgery. When I toldNikki that he gave me permission and that I put my nurse Myra on the phone withhim to get the order, Nikki said that she was going to talk to him because shesaid I was not going to get that order. How does a DON override the Dr order andwhat legal right does she have to not let me leave for a day out when otherresidents are allowed to do this? I can take Voltran both ways and be back hereat 630p each day I want to go. As far as i know this is also allowed by myinsurance. I feel my resident rights are being violated and I am beingprejudiced against. I am emailing you because there is no number posted for anOmbudsman in the building. I am my own legal responsibilty person and have myright mind. PLEASE address this asap. Thank you...
