Fraudulent Health Care Coverage/Fraudulent Cancellation Policy

In April after Pres. Obama passed the Healthcare Bill, a commercial appeared on television offering low premium Healthcare coverage. I called the 800 # which connected me to Careington International Corp. And inquired about the coverage. The representative informed me of the types of coverage, premium rates, also, discounted premium rates per quarterly/annual payments. I inquired if the medical was “full” coverage or discount coverage, the representative informed me that the medical was "Full" coverage. I again reiterated my question due to the fact of me already having a discount healthcare plan and not wanting to be purchasing more discount coverage. The representative again stated that the coverage was "Full" medical/dental & vision coverage.

I purchased the plan and paid for 6 months of premiums for $349. And a $49.99 non-refundable processing fee. When I received my membership cards and booklet in the mail on 4/20, the new member kit was from Healthcare One. I read the information booklet and discovered that the plan was a discounted health care coverage. I immediately called the 800 number to complain of the fraudulence of the Plan offer, informed them of the conversation that I had with the representative that explained the healthcare coverage to me as being "Full" coverage, to pull the recorded tape of our conversation, and that I was requesting a refund of my monies paid to them. The representative stated that my request for refund was being forwarded over to the refund department and that it would take up to 30 days for me to receive my refund, but that I would receive a phone call from the dept first, informing me of when my refund is being sent out. After 2 weeks of not receiving a phone call, I called member services again and was informed that the refund dept had received my request and of their 30 day refund policy. After 30 days, I was informed the same information and in addition; that the refund dept process the refunds in the order in which they are received. I questioned what was the time frame in which my refund request was submitted and was told that once their dept forwarded the request to the refund dept, they did not have access to that information, also that I should be receiving a call in a few days informing me of the date my refund will be sent out.

I have a log of the dates that I continued to call member services, the representatives and supervisors names and the info given to me. I continued to call the 800 # to complain was informed that the company is temporarily closed but they are trying their best to refund everyone their monies. Apparently, this company has used an occasion to exploit low-income families by taking advantage of the affordable healthcare bill. I made a decision to use much needed monies to purchase healthcare coverage so that I could be able to go to the doctor, and now I can neither receive healthcare, or afford to pay any medical bills.

I am again requesting my monies to be refunded in “Full” (w/processing fee due to fraudulent offer). If not received within 10 Days of this final request, I am being forced to forward this information over to the Attorney Generals Office, FTC, the Better Business Bureau and also personal Attorney intervention.

Respectfully Submitted,

Sheila Rimson
