Scam, sells coverage as health insurance but it's not, doctors won't go on the plan

In Feb. 2004 a rep by the name of Kathy had convinced me that the health insurance her company was selling would fit my needs better than anyone else. During this conversation I told Kathy my main concern was finding out if my doctors were on the plan. Kathy told me she had been with the company for 3 years and had never had a doctor not willing to go on the plan. After doing a little research on my own I called Kathy back and talked with her again about the health insurance. She was pushy this time on the phone call.

I questioned my doctors being on the plan again and Kathy said they would be added... This plan was like a PPO plan. Hearing that I had to agree that this plan sounded great compared to what I had researched. Kathy informed me that when I received my information on the insurance that I would also receive a provider directory with the current doctors listed. During this whole process I never knew the name of the company nor that there was a website that I could have gone to.

I got the information in the mail about 10 days later and my CC was charged $244.95. Enrollment fee and first months premium. I didn't receive a provider directory but I did see that they had a website. My first concern was to find out if my doctors were on there since I had 30 days to use the health insurance as much as I wanted. My doctors were not listed nor was my dentist on the dental plan. I called my doctor to see if they would be willing to be added and I was quickly told no. I had to call a special number to get my dentist added. I called 1-800-290-3607 to find out about my dentist being added... They were to call me back in 2 days. I didn't hear anything back from them until 03/01 and my dentist did not want to be on their plan.

By now I had determined this health insurance was useless for me so I called to cancel on 03/01. I spoke with Tashina about canceling my health insurance which now I was told it was a discount plan. I told her I expected to receive full refund for the $119.95 and the $125 enrollment fee since I had been lied to by Kathy on what she was selling to me. Tashina tells me it will be 48 hours for the tapes of my conversation with Kathy to be available to see if I had been mislead by what I was buying. I agreed to the time frame. On the evening of 03/01/04 I had a message from Victor letting me know he had submitted my request for the enrollment fee refunded which would be determined after the tapes were heard. Victor left his number so I called him on 03/02/04 to find out what kind of time frame I needed to give to hear back about the tapes. Victor said 3 days. I called back on Fri 03/05/04 and the tapes were still not available. Victor said they would be there on Mon. 03/08/04... Well I'm still waiting to hear from Victor.

On 03/04/04 after I had canceled my coverage effective 03/01/04 Healthcare Advantage took out another $119.95. I called my bank that day and the bank recommended canceling my CC and issuing me a new one so they would not take money out of my account again. My bank issued an investigation into what was going on and gave me a temporary credit for the $244.95 and the $119.95. On 03/16/04 my bank called Healthcare Advantage and the rep lied to my bank and told them I did have coverage with them and the monies were due them. Today 03/24/04 my bank reversed the temporary credit on my account causing me to bounce 5 bank transactions as of right now. I got on the phone at 8:00am today to start finding out what was going on. I ended up spending 2 hours on the phone with Raomin, Joss and Shana at Healthcare Advantage to get to the bottom of my problem with them.

They agreed that my coverage was canceled on 03/01/04 and that they should not have taken out the additional $119.95. Before I hung up 2 hours later I had a $239.90 credit supposedly credited to my account that should show up tonight, a $150. Check in the mail covering my bounce check charges and Shana supposedly calling me back today before 5:00 to tell me how many days it will take for me to get my enrollment fee back.

This all took quite a bit of time and proof for the returned checks because they lied to the rep at my bank. Don't hang up easliy when dealing with this place. Get names and extensions and be persistent that you are going to get your money back even if you have to have the charges reversed. Document everyone you talk to and the date. I will update this tomorrow and the next weeks following to let people know where I got with this.
