The people in the shop offered me a computer for $899 and wrote that price on a receipt. I went to the cashier and paid with my credit card. However, only after signing the new receipt, I noticed that the price on it was $1254 instead of $899. The cashier told me that this was the price of the computer plus tax and warranty. I said that I had not purchased a warranty and pointed to the receipt, where there was no indication of such warranty. He told me that nothing could be done because the information had been processed.
I immediately went to the guy who had offered me the computer and told him that there was a mistake. He told me that he could not help me. I told him that I wanted to speak to the manager or the supervisor but he told me that nothing could be done since the information was alread in the computer and that I could not return the item since the shop's policy was "no refunds." I was simply shocked.
I tried to convince them to give me my money back but to no avail. I could not believe that this could happen to me. I am originally from Eastern Europe and I have always felt safe in America - the most civilized country in the world. I have never doubt that someone could defraud me in US, especially in Manhattan.
I was simply shocked. When I went home and open the box, I saw that the AC and the battery were missing. I thought that there was a mistake. I quickly went back to the store and explained what happened but the guy told me that this items were not included in the standard box and I had to buy the missing items separately.
I can't believe what happened. I am simply disgusted.
We need to do something. I cannot live with the thought of remaining silent when this shop defrauds other innocent people, who work hard to buy electronics for their families.
