PLEASE do a lot of research before deciding to adopt anyanimal from Urban Tails pet adoption center in Peekskill, NY and really LISTENand DOCUMENT what the employees tell you about what they offer for your pet.
We decided to adopt an 8-week-old puppy from Urban Tails atone of their open house events. We were given a price of 450$ and were told theprice could be reduced to 300$ if we left the puppy with them for an additionalweek so they could take it to a local vet to get her completely tested for commonillnesses and so she could be updated on her shots. We were completely obligedto leave our new puppy with Urban Tails staff so they could take care of theabove for us. Keep in mind Urban Tails also claims to be a non-profitorganization, which I find extremely hard to believe since Ive adopted pets inthe past and fees have only been 50$ for adoption including a valid vet visit, testing, shots, and medication. But we fell in love with her, and our love isunconditional. After a week had passed, we called Urban Tails and told themwe were ready to come by and get our puppy. The owner then told us our puppyhad tested positive for Parvo. (Parvo is a very serious and fatal disease somepuppies contract. When a puppy has Parvo they have to be quarantined for atleast 6 months.) We were given medication to cure our puppys Parvo. Afterbeing home for a couple days our new puppy started coughing and showing signsof an upper respiratory infection. We took her to our vet who then informed usour puppy was completely a-symptomatic of Parvo and that the medication UrbanTails had given us was simply an herbal remedy! Not an antibiotic that theyclaimed to have given us. Not only that but Parvo cannot be cured! As wasinformed to us by the Urban Tails owner. After realizing I had no medical records of my puppy everbeing to any vet, I then contacted the vet that Urban Tails claimed to havebrought my puppy to and spoke to the doctor himself. He said he had absolutelyNO record of my puppy even being in his office at all and therefore had nomedical record of diagnosing my puppy with any illnesses and/or administeringmedication to her. When I contacted Urban Tails and confronted them about ourissue, they were completely non-responsive and uncaring to our concerns. Theyhad 100 different bill breakdowns, none relating to the last. They had noexplanation as to why they had previously stated they were going to take thepuppy to the vet and didnt. Theyshowed no valid knowledge as to why they diagnosed our puppy with Parvo otherthan on the premise that she had diarrhea and then all of a sudden told us themedication was for her kennel cough (which was never mentioned until I toldher our vet diagnosed her with an upper respiratory infection). This information goes on for days; there are so many otherthings that happened between now and then that our puppy and we have had to gothrough with this company. I can go through everything if contacted. PLEASEagain take my advice and do extensive research on Urban Tails if you plan onadopting a pet from this company. If it were me, Id stay away from them and goto another adoption center but Id never skew anyone from adopting a pet thatneeds a good home and they sure have a lot there.
