I moved to Emerald Point May. When I arrived in our townhome (we moved here from out of state and rented a unit sight unseen) there was a scratching sound coming from the ceiling on the first day I was there.
I contacted the office and was given the run around but was finally assured that someone would be out that day. I waited and no one showed up. I called the next day and they said someone would be out that day, no one showed up. On the third day, they sent a nice man over from Critter Control - he went into the attic and immediately started saying "oh my god" - I asked what the problem was, there were 3 nests full of pigeons in the attic, one dead pigeon and one that was stuck in the stairway. He said that there were holes in the roof and that is how they were getting in.
Emerald Point was made aware of the situation and did NOTHING for several months. I kept calling them and telling them I was worried someone would end up getting sick (pigeon feces carries disease) and they paid no attention. After I hassled them for months - they did send somone over to patch the holes but never did I see them cleaning up the attic before the patches were put into place.
I was also faced with electrical problems - after 5 times of maintenance people coming out and not fixing the problem, I gave up and had partial electricity in the upstairs for the entire year we were there. Many of the maintenance issues I had went unresolved, the maintenance people blamed the office staff and vice versa. I could not wait for the lease to end!
I moved out June 1st and ended the military allotment we had with Emerald Point.in July I bought a car and the money that was supposed to go to the bank for the car payment ended up getting sent to Emerald Point, for two months they received over $700 from me and did not even bother to call or write to notify me even though I gave them my forwarding information. I called Susan and was told that I would be mailed the check from their home office - 2 weeks later I called again to find out where my money was and she said she would request the check again and that she did not know what happened. I finally did get the check after many phone calls and a few weeks!
Bottom line, the people that work in the office are extremely RUDE (they are sweet as pie before you become a tennant) and very inefficient. Renting from them has been the worst renting experience I've had in the 15 years that I have been renting.
