Why Not to Order Flowers Online - and if You Do Why NOT to Use Bloomex
I've never done a rant about a company on my blog before. I don't necessarily think this is the forum for some complaints - but frankly this one so pissed me off - and the lack of follow up and service after the complaint that I am going to take advantage of my online networking sources to spread the word.
We all have busy schedules and often are caught in a situation where we've left things to the last minute - a Birthday - Mother's day - Valentines - whatever the occasion - and we're going.."what do I do now?'.
Well flowers seem like the natural option right? And if you're not in the area, out of province, state or country... You might go online to order flowers to have that handled right?
Well yesterday I received a large floral box delivery - of flowers from Online Bloomex.ca. It was my birthday - so cool... Right? The florist listed on the box was: Fancy glassware Europe, 9133 Shaughnessy Street, Vancouver, B.C. V6P 6R6 - why would you use a Florist that is 2 hours away from the town in question? Actually I just looked up Chilliwack Flowers and guess who comes up? Bloomex Chilliwack!
Well look at what I saw when I opened it...?
P.S. They were wrapped in the tissue with a water filled foam ball
The pitcher is mine (I'd packed all my vases) - they didn't come with a vase which is o.K. - but even the single fern was broken:- (
Seriously I have never seen anything like this. Even our local corner store would have a better arrangement for $4.99. I was so shocked I started looking for a number to call and voice my complaint.
Sure there's a website... Check it out... Bloomex.ca
.. And supposedly numbers associated with every city. Well the phone number for every city is exactly the same - and central calling centre. Nobody picks up the phone and its just one series of voice mail options after another. When you get to the one that says - 'if you're not happy with your product'... You're instructed to take a photo and email them! Crap eh?
So then I went online and saw a 'talk to a live operator' button and decided to try that... About 20 minutes later someone asks me online how they can help me - (that's after I've written a paragraph explaining the problem).
After voicing my complaint again and explaining the state of my flowers... She says 'well we can't send you something they didn't order. If they spent X on an order we can't give you XXX! Really? So I asked her which floral bouquet was ordered - and went and had a look at it online - this is it...
And believe it till then I still didn't know who the flowers were from. So I asked and she instructed me to peel open the back of the invoice and there typed under the sticky was 'Happy Birthday Mom - love my daughter'...:- (It made me so sad that this was the type of presentation that they did... Who orders flowers and expects the florist do that kind of a gift card?
Anyhow this is where I'm at with this right now - looking at these flowers - and thinking you shouldn't have to pay that kind of dollar plus $10 for delivery - plus taxes for this type of gift.
What really pisses me off is that people are taken advantage of because they can't see the product they're sending. They assume that the dealer/florist will send the flowers as per photo - or Better! And then the poor recipient doesn't want to complain because they either don't want the giver to feel bad - or they're thinking - geesh they sure cheaped out on me! Lol
I talked to the driver who delivered them - and he said they had a lot of re-sends because a lot of people complained... They also load them up in the truck overnight and they sit there all night and are not delivered fresh - like no kidding?
What do you you think?
My recommendation is get referrals of florists from the city you want them sent from, ask friends or your A/R contact in that city! Or go online and go directly to a florist in the city you need to have them sent to. Do not use a Broker! Instead of looking the potential repeat business they might get - no doubt some feel that after they pay out their referral fee - they have to chintz out on the flowers to make it still profitable for them.
