We got gifts for Christmas which were bought from Sears by one of our family members. It was clothing, but we decided to exchange it for something different. We went in and were helped by a customer service representative. The first item she scanned which was a pair of jeans, gave $11.99. We did not have the receipt with us since it was a gift... And we needed to know the approximate amount of money that we could spend on something else. She told us that the machine could later change and give us a different amount for some reason. So we decided to just return the three items together so she could just give us a gift card with the total amount of the items. However, she went through the process of that and then came out and said, "i'm sorry but it's only giving $1.99 for the jeans." We accepted it anyway thinking that if we disputed it, they would say they couldn't do anything about it. So we just took the giftcard, but sears got to keep the rest of the money. A pair of jeans obviously can't possibly cost $1.99 at sears, not even with a discount. I do not care so much about the money, but after all it was my family member's money that was lost... And sears delightfully gets to keep our money. That is totally wrong. The customer service representative did not even try to get help or an answer to why the machine got a mere two dollars worth for a pair of jeans. It would be great if sears would stop cheating people out of their money and if they would actually try resolving this issue.
