Accountability?

I have been a customer of TRUGREEN for over 5 years. I am always aware of when they are coming due to the danger that the chemicals pose to my pet. Mistakenly, I thought Trugreen was scheduled on 3/19/10. However, on March 18 I arrived home from work and noted a receipt left in my door for services rendered by Trugreen for fertilizer and weed control. I also noted my dog to be in the back yard. Immediately, I contacted Trugreen and questioned them by leaving a voice mail. My voice mail requested a return call ASAP secondary to one of two scenarios occurred on this date. The first scenario was that they jeopardized the safety of my dog for the profit of their business. (My dog, a healthy, lively family pet of 12 plus years..) Or, I questioned if they did not spray the yard and planned on charging me for a service that did not happen. No one was available to answer the question. The next day, March 19 I was putting my dog in the car to take to the groomers. (thinking this was the scheduled day) "Will, the specialist appeared in my yard and had explained to me" that the day before, he had a trainee with him and things got confused. He was not sure if the trainee had sprayed the backyard and the trainee was not sure if he (Will) sprayed the backyard." I was running to get the dog to the groomers so that I could get to work and did not question him further at the time. I took his word to correct whatever was necessary. I picked my dog up after work@ approximately 4:00."Lucy" was in the house with me the rest of the night. The next day, I woke her up to put her out in the yard while we went to my son's game. We arrived home around 3:00 and noted "Lucy" did not come out to greet us like she normally did. My son and myself walked to the back of our yard and noted Lucy to be very lethargic. I immediately put her in the car and took her to the Colerain Animal Hospital. The vet gave her fluid via IVS and indicated that she appeared dehydrated. I was very emotional at the time since her behavior was atypical. Trying to put the pieces together for this change in her behavior, I contacted Trugeen and questioned what "chemicals" were used that appeared to affect my dog in this manner. The local branch was closed and I spoke with a representative from Dallas Tx. He had indicated that nothing could have been used that would harm a pet. I questioned why lawn signs were posted for a minimum of 24 hours if that was the case. He was unable to answer. I stayed home with my dog all night watching her suffer from seizures and feeling totally helpless. Lucy died Sunday AM despite my numerous calls to the vet pleading with them for advice of what to do to prevent the inevitable. My family was devastated and continue to miss the loss of our pet. The next day, Monday March 21 I contacted Trugreen early. I wanted them to take accountability for a totally healthy dog who suddenly died with the very strange "coincidence" of them spraying my yard. I spoke with a receptionist who later had me speak to Bob (the manager). Bob listened to me and said that he would discuss this scenario with the specialist. I received a call back and was told that Will reports that Lucy was in the garage when Will arrived so he closed the garage off. If this was the case, Lucy would have still been in the garage when we arrived home.instead, she was positioned in the middle of the yard. Since this was not the story told to me on March 19th, I requested that Will call me to discuss it further. Note, I still have not talked to Will despite my requests. I placed another call to Bob, when I did not get a return call. Bob now changed the story again. Now, the story was that Will coaxed my dog into the garage and confined her for her safety. Again, Lucy was in the yard when we arrived home. Having 3 stories has lead me to believe that something is not right. I heard from Bob on 3/25/10 in which he told me he was going to check this out further. Being upset and frustrated with their negligence, I arrived home on 4/1/10 not to find a letter of apology, or a follow up phone call but rather a bill charging me for the services that I believed to have killed my family pet. I immediately contacted TRUGREEN again. My response from Bob was that Trugreen realized that Will was a "tenured" employee and that they as a company were going to have to stick with what Will had described as the sequence of events. There was no acknowledgment of the 3 stories previously told. Basically, indicating that the initial story of the trainee did not exist. I can understand that mistakes can happen. What I don't understand is how a longtime customer can be treated with such disregard. TRUGREEN has not made any further contact with me and refuses to be accountable in any way. I plan on not just sharing my story about the loss of my dog but even more so, about the poor manner in which TRUGREEN handled the situation.
