Deal Tree / Best Buy Trade In
Deal Tree Failed to honor there original quote for my flat screen monitor, despite the fact that it had been tested prior to shipping and was in perfect working order. Aesthetically, there were NO sc

Deal Tree was unwilling to honor their original quote for my flat screen monitor; despite the fact that it had been tested just prior to shipping and was found to be in perfect working order. As for aesthetics, the monitor and casing had no visible scratches or flaws. Additionally, all cables etc. Were included in the box that was shipped.

I was originally quoted $23 dollars for my trade-in... Granted not a great deal of money for a perfectly good flat screen monitor but, as it was not being used a member of Best Buy's "Geek Squad" recommended I trade the unit in for a store gift card.

Unfortunately, I later received an email stating that a gift card for only $7 was being sent to my address. Of course, the cost of having the monitor shipped back to me would be more that the originally quote price... Which I'm sure is what they are counting on from the beginning.

While I intend to pursue this complaint with Best Buy, I would suggest that readers strongly consider selling their equipment directly via Craig's List or Ebay. If this is not an viable option for some they may wish to consider donating their old equipment to organizations like the Salvation Army and taking a tax write off for the full resale value.

In the end, after reading the complaints of other unhappy (read swindled) consumers, I am left feeling more disappointed with Best Buy than with this obviously disreputable trade-in company. For others who have experienced similar fraud I encourage that you also express your dissatisfaction to Best Buy, as well as, to your States' Attorney General's office (for Illinois it's Lisa Madigan at: Chicago Main Office 100 West Randolph Street Chicago, IL 60601 ph (312) 814-3000 TTY: 1-800-964-3013)

I also believe this site contains the contact info for the Better Business Bureau, and other consumer protection agencies... I know its a pain but its worth it.
