Do not EVER take your dog there, do not EVER work there

This report is in the past tense as I have no updated information about Rock N Dogs's current business practices. I concede that this might be outdated, but I imagine not much has changed since my experience working there just a few months ago.
I believe the owner lacks any moral or ethical compunctions whatsoever.
He lied about the services he offers: I'm not sure what he considers "kennel-free" to be, but he made it regular practice to kennel the dogs in his care for at least 3 hours a day, ON AVERAGE—while the daycare was open and the dogs were supposed to be having "free play time." He ordered them locked up so that he could order his one employee on duty around doing random, unprecedented chores; if he got sick of listening to them; if one dog barked too much, it would be locked up and eventually muzzled and left isolated; if a dog played too rough, it would be locked up and left isolated.
While I was there, he was offering a full-service grooming package for $30 that included a shampoo/condition, blowdry, brushing, ear cleaning, nail trimming, cologne spritz, and bow or bandana. The whole time I was there, we did not have a functional pair of nail clippers, despite the other employee's best effort to get J to buy some, meaning we never trimmed nails. He just kept charging full price for a service he didn't follow through on, and it was apparently employee policy to straight out lie to the customer if they asked about the nails being clipped.
I was never aware of an employee on the premises overnight. Dogs were, as far as I could tell since I closed and opened multiple times, alone and unmonitored and kenneled from 7/8 pm to 7 am, unless J drove in from Park City in the middle of the night, which I was never aware of him doing.
He taught me and his other employee to spray dogs in the face if they were playing too hard. Unfortunately, no one was trained in any way to read dog body language, meaning that a dog who was playing innocently could be punished, which can actually turn a playful dog into a mean, aggressive dog.
And speaking of training, none of the staff received any kind of dog-specific training whatsoever. It seems that J hires people he thinks will put up with his nonsense and puts them to work straight away. (On a related note, beware of his working interviews that will last all day. Im pretty sure its just free labor for him.) I was running the store, completely alone, on my fourth day there. Just so you know, that involves opening the store, running the computers, checking people in, answering the phone, feeding, cleaning, and monitoring the dogs... All alone. On my fourth day. And J never bothered to tell me, I just came in and he didnt show up for hours. Feel safe knowing your dogs are in that situation? And that I was "training" new employees after working there for a week?
He lied about what happens to dogs while they're at his kennel. We had a rough-playing bulldog get his face gnawed by a rough playmate, but J looked at it and straight up said that it was a wart the dog came in with. Since I was the one who checked the dog in and J hadn't seen him at all that day, you can connect the dots. Lies.
On my last day, I saw him abuse a dog for lifting his leg and marking the racecar bed in the play yard. He grabbed the dog's muzzle, shoved his face against the ground until the dog whined in pain, and threw him in a kennel. Punishment for a male dog marking something.
Second, don't ever work there. He doesn't give his employees breaks and while I was there, there was only 1 person there at a time, except for the few hours I was trained. I don't know how you're supposed to constantly monitor the dogs, as his website promises, and keep up with all the demands J puts on you while you're cleaning the whole place to his ever-changing specifications (depending greatly on his ever-changing moods) and running the front office. But then again, J doesn't really explain your job to you at all. He just butters you up and tells you you're great to get you to start working for him and then emotionally and psychologically abuses you when you don't do something that he never told you you were supposed to do, or when you don't do it right because he's never bothered to teach you. He's a bully.
And forget about having a second job if you work for him, because he'll think he owns you: Despite constant requests, he never gave me my schedule in advance, and regularly kept me hours past when my shift was supposed to end.
He also never paid on time and I always had lots of angry phone calls from former employees tracking their checks down. It took me two weeks of pestering him to get my check, and it was $100 short, AND when I had his bank check it (because I didn't trust him), he had insufficient funds and I would have been charged for depositing it. He flatly denied the whole thing and tried to bully me over the phone about it and lied about having talked to the banker I took the check to (which he didn't, and the banker confirmed. Luckily they all know him far too well at his own bank because hes the same to everyone.) There's no excuse for that when you're a "multi-millionaire, " as far as I'm concerned, but like I said, pretty much everything he says is a lie. And he'll tell lies straight to your face and expect you to be stupid or spineless enough to swallow them.
So, that's the kind of person you'll deal with if you work there or take your dog there. Avoid both at all costs.
