Arrived at Shasta Ski Park and found I had no cell service, so used a payphone to make my call, using my credit card. My CC bill showed $29 for each of two calls, neither of which lasted longer than five seconds, voice mail picked up, I didn't leave a message but simply hung up.
Phoned the customer service # for the charges and it was NCIC, apparently infamous for their outrageous charges on payphones across the country. I accepted a "charge adjustment" of $26.01, which was stated to be the maximum the customer service rep. Could authorize. I still intend to report the matter to the appropriate authority (soon as I find out who that is) of the state of California.
